Carrefour, one of the largest French hypermarket chains in the world was introduced to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market in 1995 by Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across MENA.
Carrefour has become the most dynamic, fast-moving and exciting hypermarket chain in the region and shared its growth with more than 21,000 employees from more than 68 nationalities in 12 countries, providing shoppers with variety and value-for-money.
They are venturing into the Kenyan market with a similar initiative and are seeking to recruit a high caliber, results-oriented and self-driven Business Development Manager to join their team in the capacity below.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Identification, review and description of target zones for each format
- Data mining, city development and competition follow-up / intelligence
- Sourcing of suitable locations in shopping malls or stand alone in line with retail concepts
- Development of relationship network with real estate / agents
- Due diligence and follow up:
- Participation in evaluation of the pre technical and security requirements on sites in cost efficient perspectives
- Full due diligence of prospective sites to ensure demographics via external consultant
- Feasibility studies to ensure a positive IRR, NOPAT & Payback based on financial requirements
- Project management: coordination of different stakeholders and dispatch related documents to Management, Finance, Legal and Development
- Participation in the negotiation and finalization of lease agreements, coordination with legal department
- Interaction with management on all steps leading to potential new opening
Skills
- Good communication skills, ability to work in multi-cultural and international environment
- Willingness to spend time exploring neighborhoods on site, view new sites, meet with potential landlords / developers.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, experience in project management and in handling multiple projects
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, dynamic, well organized and ability to work under pressure
Qualifications
- At least a BA in a relevant discipline (Construction management, business administration, real estate or related disciplines) Ability to meet travel requirements, when applicable
- At least 4 years of relevant experience
- Well versed with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power point
